Barclays Premier League Gameweek 22 Review

The week saw Arsenal and Liverpool draw and Manchester United reclaim top spot of the Barclays Premier League in style whereas Portsmouth suffered a rare away defeat at the hands of Sunderland.

Arsenal 1-1 Birmingham
Arsenal dropped points at home to hand Manchester United the chance to reach the summit at the Premier League. After Adebayor scored from spot to see Arsenal take lead, Birmingham then onwards held firm and leveled three minutes before the final whistle.
Prediction: 2-0
Result: 1-1

Aston Villa 3-1 Reading
Aston Villa won thanks to a double by Carew, and a header from Laursen to seal the win for Villa. Reading managed to grab a consolation from James Harper.
Prediction: 2-1
Result: 3-1

Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham
Chelsea starting without new signing Anelka won it at home without must of a trouble after Belleti gave Chelsea the lead with a superb long range strike. Wright-Phillips then doubled their lead in the 80th minute to hand Chelsea a win.
Prediciton: 1-2
Result: 2-0

Derby 0-1 Wigan
Wigan won their first away win of the season after Siberski scored the only goal from the game late on. It was heading for a draw like I predicted but Lactics managed to score and take all 3 points home.
Prediction: 0-0
Result: 0-1

Everton 1-0 Man City
Everton won thanks to the only goal in the match by Lescott. City has been having a tough time to win away and so was the case again.
Prediction: 2-1
Result: 1-0

Man Utd 6-0 Newcastle
Cristiano Ronaldo bagged his first hat-trick to lead Manchester United’s 6-0 assault. Newcastle were demolished by the superb second half display from the Red Devils, with Ronaldo netting his first United hat-trick after being close to it on 13 previous occasions. Carlos Tevez scored twice and Rio Ferdinand scored a superb finish to make the Newcastle misery even more embarrassing. After a goalless first half, United returned in the second half with convincing display of good passing football, and managed to score 6 goals.
Predictions: 3-0
Result: 6-0

Middlesbrough 1-1 Liverpool
Liverpool suffered another blow to their title aspirations when Middlesbrough made sure that Liverpool didn’t take more than a point. After taking the lead from the scramble inside the penalty box, Boro held their lead until Fernando Torres let fly a superb long range effort into the net to save some further embarresment to Rafa Benitez.
Prediction: 1-2
Result: 1-1

West Ham 2-1 Fulham
Fulham saw themselves taking the lead at Upton Park, but couldn’t stop West Ham from leveling and eventually score the winner. Dean Ashton and Anton Ferdinand scored for West Ham
Prediciton: 2-0
Result: 1-1

Bolton 1-2 Blackburn
Bolton were without their influential goal scorer Nicolas Anelka, and it came as no surprise as Blackburn returned with all 3 points. It would be a tough thing now for Bolton to score
Prediction: 1-2
Result: 1-2

Sunderland 2-0 Portsmouth
Pompey suffered a rare away defeat at the Stadium of Light after a superb brace from former Manchester United midfielder, Kieran Richardson. He came close to score his third when he struck the woodwork. A great result for Roy Keane’s side. Pompey were missing a lot of players, thanks to the African Cup of Nations, and couldn’t even manage to score.
Prediction: 0-1
Result: 2-0
